アメリカのボストン美術館は 100年以上にわたり 日本美術の作品を 集めてきました。今では 10万点を超え 作品の 多さと良さでは 海外の美術館では 世界一です。今回は その中から 仏画と絵巻、中世の水墨画から 近世の絵画まで 66点を紹介します。注目は 修復を終えて 世界初公開となる 蕭白の「雲龍図」です。そのほか 国宝級の作品が たくさん展示されます。

Japanese Masterpieces from the Museum of Fine Arts-Boston, in Nagoya
Described as the Eastern Arts Hall of Fame, Nagoya Boston Museum of Fine Arts is proud of the large scale and high quality of the pieces of art work on display. In this exhibition, 66 Buddhist paintings, picture scrolls, ink paintings, and the early modern period paintings are displayed through the entire exhibition period. It is worth a visit to see the remarkable collection of Shohaku, which is shown for the first time after restoration. Especially worth seeing is a dragon painting depicting a dragon leaping out from among the clouds on 8 sliding doors (8 fusuma papers), 170 cm high and 10 meters long.
